MELC Locally Recognized as Best Place to Work 4/18/09

MELC has received the “Best Place to Work” award from the Delaware Valley Association for the Education of Young Children (DVAEYC). The organization was recognized at the annual Early Childhood conference hosted by DVAEYC on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. DVAEYC bestowed the award during the morning plenary session beginning at 9 a.m. and featured a keynote address by Dr. Heidi Ramirez, Director of the Urban Education Collaborative at Temple University and a member of the Philadelphia School Reform Commission.

With a total of over 200 employees, MELC is committed to compensation, benefits and work environments that recognize and professionalize the critical work they do with and for children and families. MELC collaborates with community partners to assist families throughout the region.
 
DVAEYC is a non-profit, organization that works on behalf of the needs, rights, and well-being of young children (0-8) in Southeastern Pennsylvania, with a particular emphasis on children and families from the region’s neediest communities. DVAEYC supports early childhood professionals and programs and leads efforts to engage parents, policy makers and business leaders in improving the quality of early childhood education and care. Continuing education credit is available for many of the programs and services DVAEYC provides, including the annual Early Childhood Education Conference.
