Celebrating Our Diamond Anniversary

Wonderspring turns 60 this year, and to celebrate we will be hosting 60 days of activities and commemorations including a 60-book reading challenge, classroom activities focused on the number 60, and a 1960’s themed dance party. “We are so excited,” says Zakiyyah Boone, Chief Executive Officer. “Please help us spread the word that Wonderspring’s 60th Anniversary is off and running!”

Wonderspring was first incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1964 as Day Care Association of Montgomery County when a small group of concerned citizens gathered in Ambler, Pennsylvania, to discuss the community’s need for childcare services and to plan a program to meet that need. Our first site was located at Mercer House at Mt. Pleasant Avenue and Morris Road in Ambler, PA, which opened with 12 enrolled children.

In 1996, we changed our name to Montgomery Early Learning Centers to highlight a heightened focus on early childhood education, and in 2020 we rebranded to Wonderspring to better reflect the expanded geographical area served as well as the organization’s approach to learning. Today, we are proud to provide high-quality early childhood education at five sites in Philadelphia, Montgomery and Delaware Counties and school-age care at five locations within the Colonial School District.
